Exercise 41: Publish a Projector File

You can create a Flash MX 2004 Projector File that allows you to play a Flash MX 2004 movie on most computers, even if a computer does not have Flash MX 2004 installed.

Creating a projector file is useful for showing a Flash MX 2004 movie during a presentation or sending a Flash MX 2004 movie in an e-mail message.

Publish Settings Formats Follow these simple steps:

  1. Click File > Publish Settings, and the Publish Settings Dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Formats tab, and then click Windows Projector. To also create a projector file that runs on a Macintosh Projector, and then deselect any publishing settings you don't want, such as Flash and HTML.
  3. Click Publish to create the projector file. (Flash MX 2004 will place the projector file in the same location that stores the current Flash MX 2004 document.)
  4. Click OK to confirm.

Follow these directions to play these Projector Files:

  1. Locate the Flash MX 2004 Projector File on your computer.
  2. Image of Flash Player in action. Double-click the Flash MX 2004 Projector File
    to play the movie
  3. The Flash MX 2004 Player opens and the movie plays repeatedly.

When you finish playing the movie, close the Window. This file is quite portable now and can be emailed or saved to disk for repeated use.
